AI that does the work.

Pathfinder has been generally available since July 14, 2026 with release 26.3. It is included in all Lobster Data Platform plans at no additional cost, and the co-piloting features shown in the webinar belong to the Pathfinder family and fall under the fair license policy. You do not need a separate AI license or subscription. Cloud and on-prem customers can both use it, and there are no functional differences between the cloud and the on-prem environment. Pathfinder itself runs in the Lobster Cloud and talks to your instance through the Lobster API Server, which is mandatory for on-prem setups. Version 26.3 is required; the 4.6 product lines (Lobster Data, Lobster Pro) are not supported. On-prem customers can download 26.3 from the Update Center right away. Lobster Cloud instances are updated automatically by our team in phases over the two weeks after release, which is why Pathfinder may show up in your profiles a few days after the release date.

Pathfinder is a hybrid system running on AWS Bedrock foundation models. It continuously learns from anonymized integration knowledge gained from created and modified mappings, with your experts in the loop, and it also draws on publicly available knowledge such as EDIFACT and other industry standard schema specifications in its training data. When you invoke it, Pathfinder currently uses only the structural information of the profile it runs in: the static source and target trees, the mapping entries and metadata such as field descriptions or min/max values, plus a test file if you choose to provide one. The format knowledge will become expandable as well, since providing additional context such as data dictionaries or interface documentation is planned for 26.4 or 27.1. Per-tenant learning from your existing profiles is in active development for an upcoming release. The same goes for custom instructions for your instance, which will stay instance-specific and are never shared. Across customers, learning only happens as anonymized aggregate learning on our shared architecture. Your review decisions matter. Pathfinder tracks the full history from the original suggestion per field through every modification, selection or deselection made by the expert, and even a canceled run is a signal, so corrections feed the continuous learning. There are no token limits. Usage falls under a fair use policy in the Pathfinder Terms of Service at no extra cost. If usage were exceptionally intensive we might reach out and talk with you, which has not happened once in the last 12 months. You can find the details in the Terms of Service.

Über Kunden hinweg lernt Pathfinder nur als anonymisiertes, aggregiertes Lernen auf unserer gemeinsamen Architektur. Ihre Review-Entscheidungen zählen. Pathfinder verfolgt die komplette Historie vom ursprünglichen Vorschlag pro Feld über jede Änderung, Auswahl oder Abwahl durch den Experten, und auch ein abgebrochener Lauf ist ein Signal. So fließen Korrekturen in das kontinuierliche Lernen ein. Token-Limits gibt es nicht. Die Nutzung ist über eine Fair-Use-Policy in den Pathfinder Terms of Service ohne Zusatzkosten abgedeckt. Bei außergewöhnlich intensiver Nutzung würden wir auf Sie zukommen und mit Ihnen sprechen, was in den letzten zwölf Monaten kein einziges Mal vorgekommen ist. Pathfinder maps to any target structure you create in Phase 3, including self-made and in-house structures, and works from the semantic meaning of field and node names. For structures with non-speaking names such as „OptionField1“ or „D-0045“ there are two levers. Today you can provide test files with meaningful sample data, which gives Pathfinder the context it needs and improves suggestion quality considerably. Next, Pathfinder will be able to read interface documentation as context, for example the typical EDIFACT guideline that explains which field means what, the same way a human integrator would. That is planned for 26.4 or 27.1, so within the next six months. A manual basic mapping is not mandatory as a starting point. The demo simply showed that both routes work, so Pathfinder can start on a completely unmapped profile or finalize a partially mapped one. The same applies when an existing profile needs to be extended because the source or target structure has changed. Update the structures as usual, then let Pathfinder close the gaps in the mapping. Quality improves over time through your experts‘ corrections and confirmations.

You can try EDIFACT with Pathfinder today, but it is experimental, as shown in the demo. Above a certain number of fields you will see a warning, and beyond roughly 700 fields the automapping will not run yet. Full EDIFACT support is in active development and planned for 26.4, and the same applies to IDOC and X12. This development happens in the Pathfinder backend, so it does not require a platform update on your side. Support can improve at any moment, and we will give a heads-up when it lands. Qualifier constants and equals functions belong to the transformation topic. In 26.3 Pathfinder does pure field mapping, and transformations between field contents, including setting such constants, come with the next iteration planned for 26.4. A predefined target structure is required either way, since Pathfinder maps into existing structures and does not create them yet. Repeated segments, such as reading several MEA weights via multiple path entries, are already partly supported. 26.4 is the first full EDIFACT version, so if you hit cases that are not covered yet, please send them to us. We have a systematic approach to improving our models and a high interest in covering exactly these cases. As example and test files, Pathfinder accepts nearly every format the Lobster Data Platform officially supports, so XML, JSON, CSV and other typical formats. Formats we have not optimized for show a warning, but you can still try them. Uploading written interface documentation as context, for example a Word or PDF EDIFACT guideline, is in active development and planned for 26.4/27.1.

Pathfinder is invoked per profile and works on both node and field level. Once your instance is on 26.3, the Automapping button is available in any profile without further setup. In the webinar demo, one node path had been set manually as an example, shown as „Mapped by you“, and Pathfinder proposed all remaining paths. Restricting a run to specific subnodes, the section mapping, is in active development for the 26.4 release. That will also serve very large structures such as 500+ attributes with large picklists, where today a warning appears above a certain field count. Loops are not handled yet. In 26.3 Pathfinder works on the static structure and proposes mappings just as a user would set paths manually, so a mapped source node leads to repeating target entries exactly like the existing functionality. Loop handling arrives with the 26.4 iteration together with functions, which also covers target objects built via http json-lookup(). Value mappings for specific fields, for example converting an incoming „ktn“ to „KT“ in the target system, belong to the transformations planned for 26.4 as well. For every suggestion, Pathfinder shows a confidence percentage plus the reasoning behind it. Suggestions with a confidence of 85% or higher are currently mapped automatically, between 55% and 85% they go to human review, and below that no match is proposed. These values will change over time as our confidence scoring gets optimized. Acceptance and decline rates flow back into training and improve future results. If you provide a test file, you see its content in the Pathfinder mapping window just as with test files in LDP today. Test files can already be provided on both the source and the target side once the target structure exists, and generating an expected output file from your uploads automatically is the aim for the next iteration.

In 26.3, Pathfinder handles the field mapping itself and suggests structural links between nodes and fields in existing structures. Suggestions for functions and whole transformation chains between source and target fields are in active development and scheduled for the 26.4 release. This also covers suggesting hard-coded values or frequently used functions for a certain node or field. Creating source or target structures is not possible yet, since Pathfinder needs a pre-existing structure to run against. Structure creation is planned for 26.4, so this October, though without a guarantee because it is still in the lab. Comparing two versions of a profile including the functions used is in active discovery, without an ETA yet. Downloadable documentation of existing and newly suggested Pathfinder mappings, for example as an Excel file, is also in active discovery and will come in a future release. Applying a Pathfinder mapping behaves like a change made by a human colleague. Profile versioning works exactly as LDP always has, so you can return to the previous profile version at any time.

Pathfinder Automapping only works on the static source and target structures from Phase 3, plus the mapping entries and metadata such as field descriptions or min/max values. The only way potentially sensitive content reaches Pathfinder is if you select a test file with confidential inputs, and you can always run Automapping without any test file via the checkbox in the Pathfinder window. Pathfinder runs on Lobster’s shared infrastructure, not per instance, and communicates with each instance via HTTPS through the Lobster API Server. Learning happens as anonymized aggregate learning across profiles. Custom instructions for your specific instance, currently in active development, stay instance-specific and are never shared. Stored credentials such as partner passwords are deliberately not exposed through the Platform API. The API is at the very beginning of its journey, so if you need additional values that make sense from a security standpoint, please reach out and share your use case. The payload will be extended continuously. Pathfinder is not limited to supply chain scenarios either. It learns from all interactions on your instance and can serve other domains such as personnel data, though we primarily benchmark against core supply chain and logistics cases.

The Platform API launched with 26.3 is the start of a long-term initiative. Today it offers read access, the first POST and PATCH endpoints will follow soon, and more and more entities of the software will be added. The documentation is online at https://docs.lobstersoftware.com/apidocs and is continuously updated. Building complete profiles including mappings via external AI agents such as Claude Code is a long-term goal rather than a 26.4 topic. More realistic in the near term are operations around profiles, for example assigning a profile to a channel, changing its input agent, setting profile values or chaining profiles. The aim is to make the profile fully accessible wherever it makes sense, including variables and functions, which would enable scenarios like comparing two profiles or exporting, modifying and reimporting a mapping. An intensive discovery phase with many customers is ongoing, so if you want to shape this, reach out to the product team or your contact person. We want to understand your use case before we commit. A Lobster MCP server is planned midterm, potentially within the next six months, though without a guarantee yet. The majority of what the APIs can do should also become available through it. The new API platform runs on a completely rewritten user management rather than an improvement of the old API. Access is more granular than before and still being refined. For monitoring, the OpenTelemetry endpoints launched a few months ago already provide telemetry and real-time runtime data across profiles and processes, usable with tools like PRTG or Databricks. Support for transactions across profiles is on the radar within the next 12 to 18 months. Former Lobster Pro is now known as Lobster Orchestration, and we are focusing on making these capabilities available through Pathfinder first. There are no short-term plans for creating forms, behaviors or event handlers via API, but the long-term aim is to expose everything that makes sense, and your concrete use cases influence which features come next.

Access to the new Platform Portal starts rolling out on Monday, July 20, for current Lobster Cloud customers. The main user of each system receives an invitation via FACIS. If you are not on the list or want to align who from your side should get access, please reach out to support. The Platform Portal itself is exclusively cloud. Some of the functionality shown, such as restart or monitoring, is also available on on-prem installations, just through the corresponding menu items in the software itself rather than through the portal. On release timing, on-prem packages are available immediately with each release. 26.3 has been downloadable via the Update Center since July 14, so on-prem customers can update right away, while Lobster Cloud instances are updated automatically by our team within about two weeks. We ship an LTS release once a year, every October, and the next release, 26.4 in October, will be that LTS. For customers still on 4.6, for example Lobster Data 4.6.24, the Platform API and Platform Portal belong to the 26.x generation and are not available on 4.6.

Zum Release-Timing: On-Prem-Pakete sind sofort mit jedem Release verfügbar. 26.3 ist seit dem 14. Juli über das Update Center herunterladbar, On-Prem-Kunden können also sofort aktualisieren, während Lobster-Cloud-Instanzen innerhalb von etwa zwei Wochen automatisch von unserem Team aktualisiert werden. Einen LTS-Release liefern wir einmal im Jahr, jeweils im Oktober. Der nächste Release im Oktober, 26.4, wird dieser LTS-Release sein. Für Kunden auf 4.6, zum Beispiel Lobster Data 4.6.24: Platform API und Platform Portal gehören zur 26.x-Generation und sind auf 4.6 nicht verfügbar.

A fixed Dark or White default can be defined per environment, so TEST and PROD can be told apart at a glance. Restart warnings for logged-in users are not implemented yet. We agree it is a good idea and have added it to the roadmap. Until then, please inform your colleagues manually before scheduling an update or restart. The firewall option shown in the Platform Portal is specific to Lobster Cloud and has nothing to do with Windows or on-prem system firewalls. If you use Lobster Cloud, a firewall is always included. On connectors and templates, the latest version contains an overview of all available templates. Click the „Start From Template“ tab in the main menu to see the CEP connectors supported so far as well as the other templates. More templates will be added directly in the software over time.

Pathfinder for Orchestration, building on the capabilities formerly known as Lobster Pro, is in active development, and initial features are expected with the 26.4 release. AI-assisted building beyond field mapping, such as generating flows and forms, is heading in exactly this direction.

A dedicated advanced training covering Pathfinder is not scheduled for the next three to six months. The upcoming trainings focus on MCP and on general usage of the platform for AI use cases. We have taken the feedback into account and will consider a dedicated format, for example a Lobster Live session, as the Pathfinder capabilities grow.
